Sorry, Kid It's Not All About You

So, what do you tell your child when he/she thinks their life is the pits? Suck it up, deal with it and get over it. Life eventually gets better. Here's a treat.
Don't you think the constant happy ending fairy tale and the pumped up you're so great euphemism sets a child up for a giant plummet when they realize they can't have nor do it all? Where should the line be drawn?
